I love the way that plants can lighten up a room. They bring this natural energy that can transform a room into a creative space. In the winter, I am often wishing for the green to appear outside. However, adding plants to my rooms help to brighten up the space.

Spanish Tile

Spanish tile can add drama and interest to any room of the house. It should be used sparingly and thoughtfully.

Put it down a stairway or as a backsplash in the kitchen or bathroom. Buy half a dozen, and glue felt on the bottom of each one for funky one-of-a-kind coasters!

Bringing plants into a home, is a great way to give a room life and to bring the outside in. Plants are known to calm people down and of course, create fresh oxygen. Also, adding warm weather plants to a brightly lit room, such as a cactus, may bring warmth to the atmosphere. Some of my favorite plants to bring into a space are cacti, tropical plants and succulents.

 Try it yourself with fresh cut flowers or your chosen plant and group them in odd numbers on a mantel, in an empty corner, on a shelf, going up the stairs, on coffee tables, desks and countertops.
